Geniveve J. Ruskus has practiced exclusively in the field of family law since her admission to the California Bar in 1996.
Although her background is in family law litigation, Geniveve’s practice currently emphasizes mediation and the employment of other alternate dispute resolution techniques in order to minimize costs (emotional as well as financial) for her clients. Geniveve is well versed in all aspects of family law, including complex financial matters such as venture capital, equity rights and apportionment, tax, and property characterization issues. In addition to her divorce practice, she also handles premarital, cohabitation and postmarital agreements as well as post- dissolution and paternity matters. Her 2015 article on a new approach to premarital agreements, published in the journal for California’s certified family law specialists, is available here.
Geniveve is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and is currently an officer and member of the Board of Managers. She has been certified as a Specialist in Family Law since 2003 and is also a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS). She has been named a Northern California “Super Lawyer” every year since 2006 and has frequently been named as one of the Northern California’s “Top 50 Women Lawyers” across all practice areas.
Geniveve earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University. While attending law school at UCLA, Geniveve was a contributing author as well as the Editor-In-Chief of the UCLA Women’s Law Journal.
Geniveve enjoys photography, travel, and the Bay Area food scene.
